i realize what an "up-roar" i caused with the post that was previously posted on this page. honestly, i had no intentions of "preaching" or pushing my rules and views on any of you. i had no intentions of hurting people or making them angry, and i definitely didnt intend to put people against me or to offend anyone. after having that post up for a few weeks and getting three anonymous commenters telling me where me and my thoughts could go, i decided to remove the post.
i realize that perhaps it wasnt my business and that maybe i should have kept my mouth shut. in my defence, i had no idea you guys even read my blog. its totally fine that you do- i was merely seeking help from others who read my blog and arent directly involved in the situation.
despite the fact that im removing the post, i am not taking those opinions back. i would have brought it up to your face, (like a few of you suggested i should have done) but quite honestly i feel i would have gotten a similar response. and i didnt really have any idea how to bring it up.
i think it was rather rude to suggest to me that i need to find new friends. and it was also rude of some of you to act all nice and friendly to my face and talk bad about me behind my back. people, if your so mad at me, why are you acting like im your friend? the only person who i can say did not do this was jon. and as weird as this may sound, im glad he didnt act all friendly to my face. i mean, yea of course it hurt that he acted like that to me, but at least i knew he was mad.
michelle and i were discussing it at work and our manager over heard. she pulled me aside and said, "jess, i know that right now having all your friends upset with you and telling you to find new friends may hurt and seem like a real crappy situation. but in a few years you'll look back and be glad that it happened because from this all, you'll figure out who you can trust and who your real friends are". and you know what?! she couldnt have been more right.
to anonymous 3: sure, people come up to you and say what a nice group it is and all that nice stuff. but they dont know the inside of the group. they dont know the dirt that really happens in the group. they dont know about the back stabbing, the chosing, the gossip, the drinking, the swearing.. all that stuff. right? and yes, every group has that. but dont try to butter the group up and make them sound all innocent and perfect. nobody comes even close to that!
if you all want to remain mad at me for this- okay. i once said i didnt ever want to be on the bad side of "the group" because they could be so rude and mean. well them being rude and mean was true. however, i think perhaps being on the bad side of it for a week or however long was maybe even good for me. it made me realize what kind of people i was actually spending time with. it made me think. and it made me force myself to stand behind my words, despite the fact that it was making people angry.
all in all, i decided losing friends over this wasnt worth it- although it did make me think and realize that perhaps some of you just arent worth trying over. maybe you all should think about this: if you have no problem talking bad about someone with other people in "the group", how do you know they arent talking bad about you behind your back?!
i hope removing this post has made you all happy. honestly, deleting it made me feel shitty. it made me feel like im not free to express my opinion on my own blog. and it made me feel like im not free to ask others, who arent directly involved in the situation, for help. and that really sucks.
and as a last note: if you dont like what you read on here.. dont read it. nobody is forcing you to come to this site and read what i write. and if you want honesty from me- you will find it here. its my little world to express how i feel about whatever i need to get off my chest.
and yes jon, perhaps i should get a journal- but i cant ask people for help and their opinions in a journal. and thats what i love so much about blogging.

so true....it does bug me sometimes too...altho it is nice to have one once in awhile...jsut not all the time!!!
ReplyDeleteyeah i know! but they're starting to bring alcohol to EVERYTHING and they're starting to NEED it to have fun. and that bothers me. it really sucks :(
ReplyDeletealot of ideas considering you weren't there. and don't say that you didn't come because you knew there would be alchohol there. I think everything you wrote up there is VERY ignorant. Especially on a blog for the world to read... and i guess there wasn't alchohol there three years ago basically cause 14 is kinda underage. A COUPLE a drinks never killed anybody. everybody could still walk streaight too.
ReplyDeletehey jess...stick to your guns. alcohol, yah one is fine. but when it HAS to be at every party, those people are addicted, whether they want to face up to that fact or not. and to Anonymous, if the drinking wasn't bad, why are you keeping your identity hidden? you shouldn't, from your post, have anything to hide. and, yes 14 is underage - so is 17. drinking underage is drinking underage. black and white: if you aren't the right age, you are breaking the law.
ReplyDeleteFrom Anonymous 2:
ReplyDeleteIf you have a problem with drinking dont drink but dont shove your rules down everyone elses throats. Also, don't put names on your blog for everyone to see... it wasnt to hard to guess who you meant! and if you hate us find new friends! We wont be offended.
whoa! Jess didn't say anybody's names! I don't know who she meant! (maybe that's because I don't know you, but anyways :P )
ReplyDeleteAnd whoever she was referring too shouldn't feel so guilty about being "exposed" if you really believe that drinking like that is okay! Jessica doesn't write anonymously because she doesn't care if people stumble across this blog-she has nothing to be afraid about, because she can stand behind her word.
Perhaps it would be better for her to find new friends other than the anonymous people because as the saying goes: Bad Company corrupts good morals.
I 100% support you Jess! Way to go! Don't let what they're saying get you down-it can't be worth much any way- not if they value your friendship so little.
~Jacinda
Thanks for your support, Amanda and Jacinda!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 2: I wasn't trying to shove my "rules" down your throat- I was merely stating my own opinion. It's fine if you have your own opinion, however, do not expect me to take back my words just to satisfy you and anonymous 1. Everyone is entitled to voicing their opinions, and that just happened to be how I felt.
The way you and anonymous 1 are reacting to this post is just proving your immaturity. And like Jacinda said- "You shouldn't feel so guilty about being 'exposed' if you really believe that drinking like that is okay".
As to putting names on my blog: not once did I mention any names in that post. The only reason you know who I am referring to is because you are part of it. If you didn't know the people I was referring to, you would have no idea who J1, J2 or J3 are.
Finally, if you are suggesting I find new friends, just because we don't see eye-to-eye on this one subject- then yes, perhaps I should find new friends. Obviously you aren't a real friend if you're ready to say good-bye over this subject.
To the rest of the world:
ReplyDeleteYou have read the blog and now think that our group is a bunch of real rotten kids ( and we're not!) I just want to say that I think our group is awesome! We're not perfect, but we don't get drunk every weekend, and we don't drink EVERY time we get together. I've gotten alot of compliments from church members that we're a great bunch and that they hope the church youth could always stay like that, for when their kids are old enough. And for the record, jess wasn't at the riverbottom, and didn't actually see anybody that she named being drunk-so she was just going by what others said.
Jess, I'm sure you meant well with this whole thing. I just want to say that if you have a problem with our drinking, you should tell us personally, not the whole world! I def agree with you that drinking in excess is wrong, and drinking and driving is very wrong! I don't think our drinking has gotten out of hand, and as Jesus said "He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone...." (John 8:7)
Hey Jess, thanks for taking it off your blog because maybe this will help us all to get over this :)
ReplyDeleteAs a "group" I think we all do have a tendency to group together when something like this happens and things get nasty. It happened back at Christmas and it took forever for things to return to normal. So we all totally need to move on now and look forward not behind and forget about the grudges. We all have faults but we should all try to show that we can look past those and are true friends
Michelle
btw Jess maybe if you start hanging out with us more we can prove to you that alcohol isn't a necessity to us :)
