after watching the changeling ive become rather interested in what really happened. sure, hollywood claims it was based on a true story, but how true is the movie compare to the story? after doing a little bit of internet reading on what happened, i discovered that, while the movie did have all true points, they left out one very important thing. gordon northcott, who murdered all those boys, wasnt the only one. his mother was also living on that ranch with him and sandford clark (the little boy who brought the happenings on the ranch to light). she was the one who decided all three of them would take a swing at walter collins. that way the murder of him couldnt be pinned on either of the three, solely.
i do not understand the sickness in this world. how can one man be so perverted and sick that he can so easily kidnap you boys, hold them in a chicken coupe, molest them and then murder them alive with an axe? it disgusts me and frightens me all at the same time. i am glad this man got the death penalty he deserved, although part of me wishes that instead of him being hanged, the parents of the children he tormented should have been allowed to murder him with an axe as well.
what also bothers me is that his mother, sarah northcott, did not get the death penalty because she was a girl. she too was involved and should have gotten way more than a 12 year jail sentence. in fact, i think it was mostly her fault for raising her son the way she did, and then being responsible for the happenings.
perhaps i will do some more research and post it here once again.
... if your interested?
ps. if you wanna read my first bit on the changeling, here is the link:

the crime around our world

as we fall asleep at night, most of us take it for granted that we will wake up in our own beds the following mornings.

however, for elizabeth smart, this was not the case. almost seven years ago she was woken up by a man who was polite, soft-spoken, nicely dressed, and armed. armed with a knife. for nine months nobody found elizabeth smart. then, just over nine months after being kidnapped from her home, elizabeth smart was seen walking with her kidnapper and his companion. she was wearing a red wig, sunglasses and a veil. her kidnappers informed authorities that she was kidnapped to be mitchell's "second wife". the sad thing is, only three months after being kidnapped, her kidnapper, mitchell, was arrested for shoplifting. he was released the same day.

isnt it scary that people like that are out there? people who dont give a second thought to kidnapping an innocent, fourteen year old girl that they've only ever met once for a few brief moments? isnt it scary that people kidnap and kill people they have never met before? that wives and children are murdered horrifically by their husband/father?

thankfully, elizabeth smart was found alive. but there are so many people who do not make it home alive.

i was looking at the rcmp wanted list on their website today, which eventually led me to the fbi's top ten most wanted people. (usama bin ladin is one of them!) the crimes that some of these people have committed and are so far getting away with makes me sick.

take for instance, robert william fisher. for eight years he's gotten away with murdering his wife and two young children and then blowing up their family home in arizona. he's out there somewhere, hopefully burdened with guilt for this horrible crime. however, the fact remains the same. this man is free. so far, this man has gotten away with this murder for eight years. where is he?

the amounts of wanted people are scary. the amounts of crime are scary. the even scarier thing is, anything like this could happen to any of us. whats stopping some sick person from kidnapping or murdering us?!

i "take my hat off" to police officers, the rcmp, the fbi, correctional officers, and any other person involved in bringing justice to criminals like these! these criminals do not deserve to walk around free. they deserved to be locked up and punished for their crimes.
